Baby Update

Things have been going really well throughout this pregnancy. There have been a couple of blips with my blood pressure and blood sugar levels, but both are under control and the good part is that I haven't had to go on bed rest or modify any of my normal activities, so I know it could be a lot worse! I will be 34 weeks along tomorrow and so far haven't gained any weight, woo! When I got pregnant I was worried about how my back would hold up, I think the fact that I haven't gained any weight and my stomach doesn't stick 8 miles out has helped a lot in this area.
We finally buckled down a month ago and finished the flooring in the baby's room and now the room is completely finished. Once I get my camera battery I should be back to taking and posting more pictures. All of my pictures for now are on my phone and I haven't taken the time to figure out how to get them on here. We still don't know boy/girl so we did the room in browns and lime greens. Since I just painted the entire house when we moved in a year and a half ago I didn't really have any desire to paint the room again, so we left it the light brown I painted it originally.
I also did some awesome bargain shopping and stalked craigslist like crazy for awhile so I was able to save a lot of money on baby gear and clothes. We have about 4 resale stores here in Bend and they are pretty awesome, as well. I don't know how people spend $10-15 on one outfit for a baby that will only be able to wear it for a few months. I bought a ton of clothes from the stores and since babies don't wear one size for very long all the clothes are in really good condition. AND I even found a little UW sweatsuit and some UW onesies at one of the stores, can't wait until he/she can wear it this fall!
I am going in to the Dr. twice a week now. One time is for my regular appointment and a non-stress test and the second time I just do another non-stress test. Yesterday was my regular appointment and NST. Because of the blood pressure and sugar issues he had mentioned before that he would probably end up inducing me rather than waiting for me to get to full term and go into labor on my own. Yesterday I asked him how far he thought I was going to be able to go and he said that he'd like to see me get to at least 36 weeks but that he wouldn't let me go past 38.5 weeks. I think I was in shock for a minute, 36 weeks is only two weeks away. That means we're going to have a baby in the next 2-4.5 weeks. Yikes! I still have so much to do around the house and at work before I'm ready for this baby. It's crazy how time seems to speed up at the end and with him telling me I won't go past 38.5 weeks, well that sped it up about a million times.
While I am a little bummed that I won't be able to go into labor on my own and have that experience I am a little excited that there is less of an unknown to everything. I now have a solid end date, instead of just a due date where I might or might not have a baby by. At least now I don't have to be anxious about my due date coming and going and being a week or two late and wondering if the baby will ever come. I am just hoping now that it happens closer to the 38.5 weeks instead of in two weeks. We are getting more and more excited to have the baby, find out what it is, what it looks like, etc. so maybe in two weeks I will feel differently, but for now it can stay in there and keep growing.
Although speaking of it growing, I am going in for an ultrasound next week to make sure that the baby isn't getting TOO big. With gestational diabetes the baby can have extra fat and get too big, that is part of the reason he'll induce me early. When a pregnant womans blood sugars are too high some of the sugars get passed through the placenta to the baby in an effort to lower the sugar levels. The baby then processes the extra sugar, but it can cause the baby to gain more weight than necessary. Hopefully that isn't the case in my situation but we'll know soon and right now I'm not measuring much bigger than what is normal.
I will try to update more frequently now that things are starting to get a little more exciting!
